Live As Citzens Of Heaven (Philippians 1:27-30)

This passage is from Philippians and I do not believe I am very familiar with this passage. But I think it has a meaningful meaning and a great message. This passage is trying to teach us to work together as a body of Christ. To fight through struggles and difficulties, and basically, live like as we would in heaven.

²⁷ Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News. ²⁸ Don’t be intimidated in any way by your enemies. This will be a sign to them that they are going to be destroyed, but that you are going to be saved, even by God himself. ²⁹ For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him. ³⁰ We are in this struggle together. You have seen my struggle in the past, and you know that I am still in the midst of it.

philippians1:27-30 (NLT)

God WANTS us to work together and as the scripture says, "I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News." (verse 27) He rejoices as he see us working together as one body, soul and mind.

In verse 28: "Don’t be intimidated in any way by your enemies. This will be a sign to them that they are going to be destroyed, but that you are going to be saved, even by God himself."

God also refers to salvation. How we can ONLY be saved and have eternal life because we are his Children. Our so-called "enemies" are non-believers. They, according to God's Word, will perish. John 3:16 says (below) that "whoever believes in him shall NOT perish but have ETERNAL LIFE."

Verse 30 teaches us that we should all understand that as Christians, we must be working together as a body of Christ. Everyone is part of one body and we cannot be excluding anyone. For instance, if you were missing a hand or a foot, it would be more difficult to live, just like the body of Christ. We cannot be missing a foot or a hand.

¹²The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.

1corinthians12:12

So I challenge you to live like Citizens in Heaven. Work together as Christians to form one body of Christ. If you are reading this and you are not a believer yet, you can become one. You need to accept Christ as your Lord and Saviour and let him take over your life. I know it is a difficult process, but if you are willing, i know God will help you. Good luck to all of you!
